After 16 years of creating The Dream Show, we’re … no, we’re not stopping! From January 2026 we’re adding a video podcast format on YouTube. So why, you might wonder, has it taken so long to add this feature?
Why did we jump into podcasting so early (2009) yet stay away from the visual format until now?
That’s easy to answer. Our guests for the first 15 years were anonymous. The concept was to invite people onto the show to share a dream for us to explore and interpret, and my feeling was that anonymity offered our guests the opportunity to go deep and personal. Adding a video format would have robbed them of their anonymity.
But then, in late 2024, I decided to flip the format and invite ‘known’ guests onto the show: people who would still share their dreams for us to explore and interpret but who would then enjoy flowing into a conversation about their life and work.
It hit a chord and the feedback has been exciting. So now we have guests who are super keen to have a video format they can share alongside our regular audio podcasts on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other places.
So we’re finally doing it. For those of you who love visuals, you’ll be able to read body language and watch my guests’ responses as we discover the insights hidden in their dreams.
It just so happens that our first 2026 guest podcast is episode 300. So that one, which will be released on January 22, will be our first to appear in the additional video format on my YouTube channel.
It’s a triple celebration: a new year, reaching 300 episodes, and going video.
Yes, I hear you. Many podcasters today produce weekly shows, passing the 300 mark within six years. Those who pump out two or three shows a week hit the 300 much sooner. We began, in 2009, with a weekly show to build momentum before settling on a new episode every four weeks. Oh, except for this year I added the Interlude podcasts, released at the halfway point between our guest episodes, to bring you dream interpretation tips and inspiration to keep you engaged. These will remain in audio format only.
This year (2025) we also changed our podcast cover art (thank you to Nataly Lee, my daughter-in-law, for the new design) and theme music (thank you to Euan Gray, my son, for composition). Euan also took on sound editing and – moving into the new year, video editing.
Earlier this week we had so many downloads of the show that our server broke, and all the podcasts were unavailable for some 24 plus hours. Perhaps it was a last prod from the universe for 2025. We have an invincible system in place now, (thank you to James and Justin of Asporea Digital who handle all the IT things that are beyond my capabilities). It was James who guided us through the technicalities of podcasting back in 2009 when podcasting media was in its infancy, and he also suggested our name, The Dream Show.
Back to the future, beginning tomorrow, 2026:
I would LOVE to say that my guests will be physically in a studio with me, and that we will have a professional camera and lighting crew, just like the top podcasters do. But hey, our guests are from all over the world, and, well, logistics!
Looking forward to our new visual adventures. Episode 300 is already in the bag, and when it comes out, on 22 January, I’ll revisit this blog to post the direct link: (Update, you can watch ep 300 HERE.)
Happy New Year!
